Day 10 Florence

The Dinner last night in a Roman Restaurant is a great success, we enjoyed a five course meal that included two pasta courses and three choices for mains. Even better the fantastic service and especially our entertaining waiter Guiseppe who is a tall dark and reasonably handsome Roman who delights In kissing the girls and pinching them on the bum. All this together with musicians.

So we are off to Florence traversing the major highway down the spine of the Italian peninsula. It's a busy drive but as we get further north the scenery turns from industry to rolling Tuscan hills. The time in the coach passes quickly with our guide outlining a thousand years of human history, most especially as it effected Italy in general and Florence in particular. This was a fantastic talk and we felt that Florence was absolutely at the centre of of human progress in the time of the Renaissance.

We stop for photographs at the lookout taking in the panorama of Florence before entering this great city. What a sight with the duomo/Cathedral dominating the landscape.

We spend our day in the heart of the city absorbing its beauty and doing a bit of shopping. We enjoy relaxing and it's great to have the sun shining and warmer weather.
